About PDF Signature Verify
PDF Signature Verify exists to answer one deceptively simple question for Indian users: "Is this signed PDF genuine, and can I trust who signed it?" Millions of official documents in India — e-Aadhaar, PAN, GST certificates, ITR-V acknowledgements, board marksheets, MCA filings and DSC-signed contracts — arrive as digitally signed PDFs. Yet the most common experience is a confusing yellow "Signature Not Verified" warning in Adobe Reader. We built this tool to replace that confusion with a clear, correct answer in seconds.
How we verify (methodology)
We do not guess. For every upload we perform the same cryptographic checks a desktop reader performs, using the industry-standard OpenSSL library on our own server:
- Integrity: we read the PDF
/ByteRange, re-hash the exact signed bytes and compare them to the signature's embedded message digest (or RSA-verify the raw signature foradbe.x509.rsa_sha1documents). If a single byte changed, the check fails. - Trust: we build the certificate chain from the signer up through the licensed Certifying Authority to a CCA India root, using a bundled, up-to-date trust store of every CCA root (2011–2022) plus the licensed CA and sub-CA intermediates.
Why you can rely on the result (E-E-A-T)
Our trust store is sourced directly from the official CCA India certificate repository at cca.gov.in — the same government root of trust that Adobe asks you to import manually. Because we already trust these roots, we can validate a signature that Acrobat marks as "unknown", while still flagging any file that has genuinely been altered. Our integrity result matches Adobe Acrobat exactly; where we differ is only that we recognise Indian government roots out of the box.
Privacy by design
The Service runs entirely on our server with no external verification API — your document is never forwarded to a third party. Uploads are auto-deleted within two hours, and the green-tick "verified copy" is generated inside your own browser. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Independence
We are an independent utility and are not affiliated with CCA, UIDAI, Adobe or any Certifying Authority. The Service is free and supported by unobtrusive advertising. Read our Disclaimer for the limits of what a verification result means.
